1. Okay, maybe my previous post was a little er.. antagonistic. Heh, but I was really pissed yesterday.

2. Presentation today went great!!! There was some problems with Dom's slides but it was alright in the end. I wore my new G2000 top!! And an old black skirt. Hahaha. I think I really love to dress up in formal wear. Shucks. I should have taken a photo!

3. And speaking about presentations. I had to wake up at 7!! And guess what? It was raining and was really windy. It would have been really good to sleep in. Bleah. I hope tomorrow's the same. Did I mention I love burrowing in my comforter? Haha.

4. Yuch. Val and Jiaying totally grossed me out today. "So cute and tight". Yuck!!! Hahahaha. I can't believe Val said that. I'm still grossed out!

5. Oh ya. There's this guy who used to be our lit teacher JasonLim's substitute back in secondary school. Can't remember his name. But I kind of keep seeing him at Biz now. I wonder if he's taking MBA or something.

Being taken advantage of

1) Someone stole my shoes.
It's really sad, cause the same design was stolen once. I bought another pair to replace it, and it was stolen again. And this time, the thief left her rotten shoes at my doorstep. Like a mockery. What the hell.

People who know me well enough know this one thing about me. If you want to use my stuff, ask me for my permission. If not, at least credit me. I am not talking about small things. I don't mind use my posts and talk about it, or whatever. But I am fiercely protective about things that I spent lots of time over. And using that lame-ass 'compliment' will not do anything. Not does copying my stuff WHOLESALE, and not being smart enough to remove my filler texts.

Some thoughts about 2046

Which I wrote right after watching it, but forgot to post. These are just some impressions. After this, I shall start writing my term paper. Which is due tomorrow. At 5. Yay me, I should be so lucky.

2046 Finally!!!

[cheesyjoke]So we didn’t need to wait till 2046 to watch 2046[/cheesyjoke] :D

I finally got to watch 2046! Won some free tickets from First magazine for the get this – preview movie! Hahaha. This means I get to watch it before the rest of you common folks do! Haha! Okay just let me be happy for a while k.

I am still intrigued by the movie. And honestly, I still cannot fully understand it. There were too many parallels. Too much deeper meaning. And watching it, I am inclined to draw links to In the Mood for Love. I wonder if it would have been better to have watched this movie as a clean slate, without the implications of In the Mood for Love being infused in it.

Visuals wise, I think WKW has outdone himself. Cinematography was fantastic. I felt that every single shot was beautiful. You probably can take a frame out of the reel and it will look so artistic, it can be used as an ad. The richness of the colours in 2046 are gorgeous.

I love how every shot is beautiful. I love how every look, every close up has a meaning. I also love how each sentence uttered by the actors/actress are loaded.

I love the Oriental Hotel rooftop scenes. Especially the one of Faye.

I love the shot of Bai Ling (Zhang Ziyi) leaning slightly on the door weeping her heart out. (Somehow she looks a little like Shu Qi in that scene.) Zhang’s great, by the way. She makes me want to wear gowns and impossibly high heels.

I like how Carina Lau looked in the bedroom scene, when she was an android, and she was making love. Her face showed that she was just somewhere else but here.

I like how the characters are always alone in a shot, even when they are talking to some one. Especially the one where Mowan (Tony) was talking to Su LiZhen (Gong Li) at the roadside stall. Speaking of which, I absolutely loved the ‘pick a card’ opening scene with Mowan and Lizhen. The card was not shown to us, until an instant later. And the shot of Gong Li crying. That was just beautiful.

The scene with Lizhen (Maggie) in Mowan’s room was absolutely gorgeous. It makes me want to wear a qipao, smoke a cigarette and lounge around on the bed, in a chair. Is Maggie gorgeous or what? And her and Mowan in the cab; that shot was black and white. It was gorgeous.

Oh yes. How can I forget. Takuya Kimura was great as the android. One of my favourite scenes in the film was when he confronted Faye about their relationship. Then he asks her ‘Do you like me?’ It was just so honest and vulnerable. I thought he’s a better actor than I gave him credit for! Also, that ‘Sayonara’ really really broke my heart. I was going to cry.

And of course, Tony. I don’t know. I can’t pick a single shot that really stands out, cause all of them are so good! Why didn’t he get an award at Cannes? He really excelled in this film.

Maybe if I were to choose 1 scene, I’d say the closing shot of him, in a cab. His head leaning on the window. No Lizhen, no Bai Ling. Just him alone and the bleakness of it all. Perfect. I love this man.

I only have 2 grouses. I was so looking forward to Chang Chen! Where was he?

Also, how much did LG pay for product placement?! It was really irritating, I thought, to see the LG logo in an otherwise very languid movie. The LG logo just drags me back to earth. I thought it was really inappropriate.

One last thing – Why did WKW break the 180 degree rule? I really really want to know why. I saw Eric Khoo at the preview too, and I wanted to go ask him. Haha.

I just changed my handphone!

But I miss my old phone so much now, I think I am going to cry.

I don't know... maybe I'm a freak, but there is something like a bond between my phone and me. It's like my trusty partner. It held through when I dropped it on the road and it got 'ran over' by a car. It stored my precious messages whenever I had a crush on a new guy - MC, 12 messages in the archives. The last one was probably still in my phone. It held my conversations with myself (a la Felicity) on the voice recording. And most importantly (and embarressingly), it was my 'nightlight' sort of thing. Whenever I had to work late into the night, I sort of carry it about. Or when I come home from late nights during clubbing, I'd flash it about when I walk along that corridor.

I don't know. I feel like crying now. And it's so stupid right?

At the shop, the guy was wrapping my phone in a clear plastic bag. I had my new phone in my hands. I put the new one on the table, and reached out to touch my old phone in the bag. The guy looked at me like I was a nut case.

It's just that it's too sudden. I didn't even get the notion of changing my handphone until this afternoon. Then I went with Dad to the shop in the evening, and I got a new one and traded in my old one.

Sigh. I am really upset now.

But I do love my new phone. I just miss my old one. I hope they don't scrape it or anything. I also hope they won't sell it to someone else.

Maybe they'd pawn it back to me or something.

Hello gorgeous!

Is this gorgeous or what?

I've never been one to go gaga over a handphone. Heck, my trusty 8310 is good enough, haven't changed it in 2 years. But this phone. I loved it as soon as I saw it.

As I am a really selfish individual, I hope it only looks good on television, and really awful in reality. Like the Nokia flip phone. Somehow I don't think so. I think it will look great. Will make a trip down to Singtel later to check it out.

The one where the girl gets snubbed

I seem to be blogging quite a bit this week. When I shouldn't be, cause I have 2 papers to hand in next week.

Anyway, I caught 2046's preview/premier whatever that is! I love it. I think I'm gonna watch it again.

I'm going write about something that I felt was pretty strange. It's trivial, but strange.

I was at the canteen yesterday eating lunch with Cher after finance lecture. Her friend, D, stopped by and talked to her. Cause I was sitting at the table, he kind of said hi and introduced himself to me as well. Okay, so my manners are not the best in the world, cause I was going to extend my hand when I smeared salad sauce on my hand. So I sort of frantically grabbed some paper to wipe my hands. So he was like 'I'm D.' and I thought Cher was going to do the introductions and so I just sat stupidly there and said 'Oh hi!'. She didn't. It was only until he left when I realised what I should have done was to offer my hand (after I wiped off the sauce, of course) and introduce myself. Right? Not the greatest manners in the world.

Anyhow. I saw D again today when I was at the rag site studying. And even though he doesn't know my name, I know him right? And he can't have already forgotten who I am right? So I sort of smiled at him. And I think I was snubbed! Okay, if he didn't remember, then I don't feel so bad. But strangely, I felt snubbed. Haha. Maybe I'm thinking too much.

ETA - Okay I wasn't thinking. Apparently Mel's phone doesn't have the reverse thingy. Come to think of it, my hair parting is opposite too. So that makes sense right? Haha.

Chinablack!

I went to Chinablack with Mel, Weisiong and Lewis last friday! It was really fun!

Before that we had dinner at some pasta place in Taka opposite Mos Burger with Caleb and Daniel. Not too bad, but please, don't eat the lasagna. I thought it was pretty horrid. Even though I finished it. Because... well, I don't know why but I did. But it wasn't nice, okay?

Oh ya, I also just realised that if you bring me to Orchard via Scotts Road (Mum told me what road it was yesterday), I have no idea where I am. Really. You can plonk me beside Wheelock, facing Lido on Scotts Road and I will have no idea where Orchard MRT is. This from the self confessed Town Shopping Queen. Pretty scary huh.
Anyway, Chinablack was fun! It's the first time I clubbed with them, so I didn't really know what to expect but it was great! (Look at the photos :D) Mel was really into taking photos, so we spent about 10-15 minutes inside the toilet taking photos... Haha. So stupid, huh. I don't know... some girls who went in to the toilet were like 'What the hell are these 2 girls doing', or eloquently, 'Why are these 2 narcissistic girls making such a fuss in the washroom?' Aiyah, but I don't care.

Oh ya! There was a fight at around 3 am! Cool! I've never seen a fight in a club before. Haha. It was quite funny cause there was this guy who was sort of hanging out with us the whole night and we were kind of avoiding him. And when the fight started, he like, immediately materializes beside us asking ‘You okay?’. Oh ya! Oh ya, I saw Irza there too! Er, not in the fight, in the club.

Oh the bartender’s weird too! I think it’s the same one who gave us a jug on the house when I went clubbing with Moon, Lesley, Key and Cher. I asked him for a glass of ice (cause they don’t serve water hmpf) and he was nice enough to give me a glass. But he was so weird with the coaster! It’s like every time I didn’t put my glass properly on the coaster, he’s swoop by, plonk my glass square on the coaster. It was kind of funny actually. :) And the serviettes too. He saw me picking out some serviettes, and then handed me a whole stack of them when I already have them.

I’m kind of missing a huge chunk on the part of guys but it was actually quite boring. I.e. I think the guys are shorter than me. Also younger. Ack. Only exception... probably 3 guys.

Um, hello. I appreciate that what you’re trying to say, but there is NO WAY I look like I’m 17.

Okay you know when you really really really want something so badly? Remember that feeling? Okay, I'm talking about in the materialistic sense, you know like a really cute dress, that limited release album etc, not abstract things like happiness etc etc. But you cannot get it because either you're really poor or something like that.

Cute huh. I'm thinking it costs more than 250 USD cause a simpler design cost about 240 USD. Also, it is not sold in Singapore. I think the US and Europe carries it.

Paulo Coelho, in his wonderful book The Alchemist said something like 'When you really want something, all the world conspires to help you achieve it'. Or something like that.

So maybe one day I'll get that bag! :D I love Paulo Coelho, so inspiring! Okay maybe I'm too shallow to apply The Alchemist to something else like Hopes, Dreams and other whatnot, but if it makes sense, it makes sense right.

What happened then? Weisheng just messaged me about this magazine that was outsourced to him, some NUS magazine that he's starting. And he's asked me to write articles for him! 50 bucks for 1 article! *yay!* Of course, running the article is subject to final approval by him, but if I work really hard, I'm sure I can do it!

Then Cher's going to the US for exchange next year and she's going to help me look out for JL's bags too! And will help me buy them!
